University staff spotlighted at Cancer Research UK Gala

Two members of the University of Aberdeen academic staff will take the stage at the first-ever Business Beats Cancer Aberdeen gala on 23 May 2025.

Dr Sharon Hanley, Senior Lecturer in Cancer Epidemiology, will share insights from her pioneering research on HPV vaccination and cervical screening. Her work is already shaping national policy and attracting significant Cancer Research UK funding.

Dr Monika Gostic, Co-Chair of the event and academic in health sciences, will help lead the evening, bringing the voice of our university into a city-wide movement for cancer research.

Their participation will not only highlight Aberdeen’s leadership in cancer prevention and public health, but also strengthen partnerships between academia, healthcare, and the community—amplifying the University’s impact across Scotland.
