Current Research

My research project is titled ‘Understanding Social Values on Low Carbon Sub-Surface Technologies in the UK and Australia’. This research project aims to map the level of stakeholder understanding and social acceptance of Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) technologies in both the UK and Australia, with a focus on the North East of Scotland and Western Australia. This research also involves analysing the current CCUS strategies implemented in these regions to achieve net zero emissions and discerning the social perceptions of key stakeholders regarding CCUS uptake. By employing Q-methodology, the project aims to delve into the intricate nuances of social perceptions surrounding CCUS technologies, evaluating the methodology's efficacy in this context. Furthermore, the project seeks to examine variations in perspectives on CCUS technologies across Australia and the UK, as well as the potential impact of enhancing engagement strategies and understanding local dynamics on achieving national climate and energy goals.
