Emma Harper MSP, Health, Social Care and Sport Committee, will chair this discussion with panellists Professor Alexandra Johnstone from the University of Aberdeen, Dr Stuart Gillespie from the International Food Policy Research Institute, and Gary Maclean Scotland’s National Chef.

Panellists:
Professor Alexandra Johnstone, from The Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen, is Theme Lead for Obesity, Nutrition and Disease. She is a UK-registered nutritionist. She is actively engaged in obesity research and translation the team’s innovative science to a range of stakeholders. She leads the £1.6 million ‘FIO Food’ research grant, on food insecurity and obesity, with emphasis on the retail food sector.
Dr Stuart Gillespie has been fighting to transform our dysfunctional food system for 40 years. Stuart worked at a range of United Nations agencies across the world, before joining the International Food Policy Research Institute in 1999. He is the author of Food Fight: From Plunder and Profit to People and Planet. (online)
Gary Maclean is Scotland’s National Chef, an award-winning author, educator, and MasterChef: The Professionals winner. Passionate about promoting Scottish food, health, and education, he represents Scotland on the global stage, inspiring future generations through his work in culinary education, international events, and sustainable food initiatives.
